Dog Walks at Clywedog Trail

The Clywedog Trail links Minera, Nant Mill, Bersham and Erddig, with heritage sites dotted along the way. Our dog walks on the Clywedog Trail use stretches close to Coedpoeth and Rhostyllen, and its flat, mostly surfaced paths make it an easy choice for most dogs.

The route

The full trail runs for about 5.3 miles, starting at Minera and passing Nant Mill and Bersham before ending at Erddig. It is flat and mostly surfaced, which suits older dogs, younger dogs and anyone who would rather not wade through deep mud.

Along the way you pass heritage sites such as Bersham Ironworks. On our walks we usually choose a section of the trail rather than the whole length, depending on your dog.

Parking

There is parking at Minera Lead Mines and at Nant Mill, where it is pay and display at £1 a day, and roadside parking at Bersham. The trail passes several sites, so where you park will depend on which part you want to walk.

For dogs on our rounds, parking is our job rather than yours. We collect your dog from your home in Coedpoeth, Rhostyllen and Bersham or nearby, walk a stretch of the trail with them and bring them back home afterwards.

Dog rules

We have not been able to confirm dog rules for the whole trail, and they may differ between the sites it passes, such as Nant Mill, Bersham and Erddig. Check the signs on the day for each section you walk.

Wherever you go, picking up after your dog is the right thing to do. Before we walk your dog here, we go through their recall and any habits at the meet and greet.
