Beagle Walker in Wrexham

A Beagle follows its nose first and its walker second. As a Beagle walker in Wrexham, we plan for that with a long-line, good routes for sniffing and plenty of patience. We collect your Beagle from home, let them work through the scents and bring them back tired and content.

How much exercise a Beagle needs

Beagles are high energy and need around 90 minutes of exercise a day. Sniffing is a big part of that: a walk where they can follow scent tires them far more than a straight march.

A 45 minute solo walk covers about half of that. Your own walk later, with plenty of sniff stops, can cover the rest of the day’s needs.

Best Wrexham walks for Beagles

The Clywedog Trail, running about 5.3 miles from Minera to Erddig, offers a steady, mostly surfaced route with plenty of interesting smells along the way.

Erddig’s waymarked routes add variety, though it is worth looking up the National Trust’s dog rules first. Alyn Waters Country Park, near Gwersyllt and Llay, gives a Beagle open grass and plenty of scent, as it is popular with dog walkers.

Which service suits

A solo walk is the right choice for Beagles: 45 minutes, one walker, £20. With poor recall and a nose in charge, one-to-one attention means we can manage the long-line and keep things safe.

Two Beagles at home? Each additional dog is £5, and we would meet them both first to see how they walk together, since two noses can pull in two directions.

Walking Beagles: what we watch for

Recall. A Beagle on a scent can go deaf to every call, so we use a long-line rather than letting them off. They still get to roam and sniff, just with a safety line attached.

We also keep well away from roads where we can, because a scent trail does not care about traffic, and a Beagle following one rarely looks up.
