How much exercise a Greyhound needs

We put Greyhounds at low to medium energy, with 40 to 60 minutes a day as the guide. Many owners are surprised by how little walking they need.

A steady 45 minute walk covers most of it. The rest of the day, most Greyhounds are perfectly content stretched out on the sofa. Older or retired dogs may want less, and we are happy to take things slower if that suits yours better.

Best Wrexham walks for Greyhounds

Wide paths with good visibility suit a Greyhound. The Clywedog Trail is flat and mostly surfaced, so it makes for comfortable, even walking.

Alyn Waters Country Park has open grass on the Llay side, but it is popular with dog walkers, so we keep to quieter areas. For owners in Acton and Rhosddu or Rhosnesni and Borras, Acton Park is close to home.

Which service suits

Solo dog walks suit most Greyhounds. For £20 you get 45 minutes, one dog and one walker, at a relaxed pace.

If you have two Greyhounds who walk well together, each additional dog is £5. For times you are away, dog sitting in your own home is £55 a night, which keeps a quiet dog in its usual surroundings with its own bed and routine.

Services for Greyhounds

Walking Greyhounds: what we watch for

The main rule: off lead only when fully enclosed. Greyhounds can reach full speed in seconds, and recall does not stand a chance against a running squirrel. On our walks they stay on lead.

We use the harness or collar you already use, check it is secure before we set off, and tell you how they went after every walk.
