Dog Walks at Alyn Waters Country Park

Alyn Waters Country Park is popular with dog walkers and sits close to Gwersyllt and Llay. These dog walks at Alyn Waters Country Park give dogs open ground to explore, and it is one of the places we take dogs from both villages.

The route

Alyn Waters is less a single route and more a park to explore. The Llay side has open grass, which gives dogs space to run and makes it a good choice for group walks.

We pick our way around the park to suit each dog, whether that means a gentle loop for an older dog or more room to roam for a young one. The park has six waymarked trails of three quarters of a mile to two miles: Yellow, Green and Orange on the Gwersyllt side, and Blue, Red and Purple on the Llay side.

Parking

Parking at Alyn Waters is pay and display at £1 a day, with car parks at the visitor centre on Mold Road in Gwersyllt and on the Llay side. Blue Badge holders park free.

If we walk your dog here, you do not need to worry about parking at all. We collect your dog from your home in Gwersyllt, Llay or anywhere else we cover, take them to the park and bring them back afterwards, so the only thing you need to do is have their lead ready.

Dog rules

According to the council, dogs are welcome in most areas of the park. There are fines for dog waste, so always bag it and bin it.

Some parts of the park may have their own rules, so look out for signs on the day and follow them. On our walks, we talk through your dog’s recall at the meet and greet so we know when they can enjoy a bit more freedom and when they are better kept close.
