How much exercise a Golden Retriever needs
Goldens are a high energy breed and need about 90 minutes of exercise every day. They are steady rather than frantic, so long, easy walks suit them better than short, intense bursts.
Our group walk lasts an hour, which fills most of that need and leaves a shorter walk for you later in the day. On days when you are out for longer, a daycation takes care of the whole lot.
Best Wrexham walks for Golden Retrievers
Alyn Waters Country Park is one of our regular spots for Goldens. It is popular with local dog walkers, there is open grass on the Llay side, and the council says dogs are welcome in most areas.
Erddig, the National Trust estate south of town, has waymarked routes, though owners should check the dog rules on the National Trust page. Out towards Rossett, the River Alyn lanes make a quieter alternative.
Which service suits
Gentle and good with other dogs, most Golden Retrievers are well suited to group walks: 1 hour with up to 4 dogs for £15.
A solo walk, 45 minutes for £20, can work better for an older Golden who prefers a slower pace, or a young one who still needs manners around other dogs. We will suggest one or the other after meeting your dog.

Walking Golden Retrievers: what we watch for
Goldens love water, so a walk near the river can quickly turn into a swim if we are not paying attention. We keep them close where the bank is steep or the water looks uninviting.
Their thick coat also holds on to mud and burrs, and in warm weather they can tire faster than you might expect. We read the dog, not just the clock.
FAQs
Is a group walk too much for an older Golden Retriever?
Not always, but some older dogs prefer a slower pace. A solo walk lets us match their speed, and we can talk it through at the meet and greet.
Are you insured and DBS checked?
Yes. We are fully insured, DBS checked and first aid trained.
What is a meet and greet?
Before the first walk we visit you at home to meet your dog and talk through routines, keys and any quirks.
